Ohsweken, ON, le 18 août 2023 – Paillé Course//Racing a réalisé de brillantes performances qui se sont conclues par le podium d’Andrew Ranger, lors des deux courses tenues cette semaine sur l’ovale de terre battue du Ohsweken Speedway. Les pilotes Andrew Ranger, Marc-Antoine Camirand et David Hébert ont toutefois connu une semaine en dents de scie lors des deux épreuves consécutives, présentées lundi et mercredi soirs.
Andrew Ranger a connu une excellente course, mercredi, alors qu’il a réalisé un premier podium cette saison. Après une première course plus difficile lundi, où il a terminé en 11e place, il a effectué une très belle remontée lors de la deuxième épreuve, alors qu’il avait pris le départ de la 14e place.
Après avoir enregistré le 20e temps dans les essais, qui déterminaient également la position de départ des manches qualificatives, il a réussi à améliorer son sort en qualifications. Puis, lors de la course, le pilote de la Camaro GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n° 27 a réussi à se faufiler parmi les meneurs après une bonne relance afin de récolter son premier podium de la saison.
« Je suis très heureux de ce résultat. Enfin, je récolte mon premier podium de cette saison qui avait été très décevante jusqu’à présent. J’ai bataillé fort tout au long de la course sur une piste ultra glissante. Je partais plus loin sur la grille, mais ma voiture était rapide, et j’ai été en mesure de m’amuser en gagnant des places et en faisant mon chemin jusqu’au podium », a mentionné Ranger.
Marc-Antoine Camirand a lui aussi connu des hauts et des bas lors du programme double sur la terre battue. Lundi, il a connu un début de soirée plus difficile, réalisant le 15e temps en essais, mais s’est bien repris lors de la course. Alors qu’il est reparti de l’arrière au 25e tour après que son équipe eut fait un arrêt pour améliorer les réglages de sa voiture, il a été en mesure de remonter le peloton pour terminer en cinquième place.
« Nous avons fait tout un retour dans la course, après un début de soirée et les premiers tours de l’épreuve plus difficiles. La piste était extrêmement glissante, nous devions être extrêmement vigilants, car la moindre petite erreur pouvait nous faire partir en dérapage. Toutefois, je crois qu’avec cette remontée, nous avons sauvé les meubles », a relaté Camirand, après la course de lundi.
Mercredi, toutefois, le pilote de la Camaro GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n° 96 a vu sa séquence de tops cinq consécutifs se terminer. Prenant le départ en 15e place, il n’a pas été en mesure de remonter considérablement le peloton, puis a dû faire un arrêt aux puits après la mi-course en raison d’une crevaison. Il a finalement rallié l’arrivée en 13e place.
De son côté, David Hébert, pilote titulaire de l’équipe ONE en Modifié sur terre battue, faisait ses débuts en NASCAR Pinty’s à l’occasion de ce programme double à Ohsweken, au volant de la voiture Camaro GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n° 01.
Hébert a montré son aisance sur la terre battue dès les premiers tours, lundi, enregistrant des temps rapides en essais. Le reste de la soirée a toutefois été plus difficile, alors qu’une crevaison en qualifications l’a forcé à prendre le départ de l’arrière du peloton. Il est par la suite parti en tête à queue, mais a réussi à rallier l’arrivée en 13e place lors de la course de lundi.
Mercredi, Hébert a encore une fois montré que sa voiture n° 01 était rapide, signant le troisième temps en essais. S’élançant de la sixième place en finale, il s’est bien défendu tout au long de la course de 100 tours et a rallié l’arrivée en septième place, réalisant son premier top-10 en série NASCAR Pinty’s.
« Nous n’avions pas vraiment d’attentes en arrivant ici à Ohsweken. Ça a été une semaine d’apprentissage pour notre équipe, et nous sommes très satisfaits de terminer avec un top-10 en NASCAR Pinty’s. C’est ce que nous visions, et on peut dire mission accomplie ! », a conclu Hébert.
Paillé Course//Racing sera de retour en action le week-end prochain avec Marc-Antoine Camirand et Andrew Ranger, alors que la série NASCAR Pinty’s se dirige vers le Circuit ICAR de Mirabel, le samedi 26 août prochain, pour le Evirum 125.

PODIUM FINISH FOR ANDREW RANGER AT OHSWEKEN
Ups and downs for Ranger, Camirand and Hébert throughout the week.
Ohsweken, ON, August 18, 2023 – Paillé Course//Racing put in brilliant performances which culminated in Andrew Ranger’s podium finish, in the doubleheader held this week at Ohsweken Speedway. Drivers Andrew Ranger, Marc-Antoine Camirand and David Hébert, however, had an up and down week for the two consecutive events, presented on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
Andrew Ranger had a great race on Wednesday, earning his first podium finish of the season. After a more difficult first race on Monday, where he finished in 11th place, he made a very good comeback during the second event, where he started from 14th place.
After recording the 20th-fastest time in practice, which also determined the starting position for the qualifying heats, he managed to improve his starting position in qualifying. Then, during the race, the driver of the GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°27 Camaro managed to gain track positions and had a good restart late in the race to claim his first podium finish of the season.
“I am very happy with this result. Finally, I collect my first podium this season, which had been very disappointing until now. I fought hard throughout the race on an ultra-slippery track, but I had fun, my car was good. I was starting from further down the grid, but I was able to work to gain places and make my way to the podium,” said Ranger.
Marc-Antoine Camirand also had his ups and downs during the doubleheader on dirt. On Monday, he had a more difficult start to the evening, setting the 15th time in practice, but recovered well during the race. While he had to start back from the rear of the field on lap 25 after his team made a pit stop to improve the car set-up, Camirand was able to work his way up the field to finish in fifth place.
“We made quite a comeback in the race, after a more difficult start in practice, qualifying and the first laps of the race. The track was extremely slippery, we had to be vigilant because the slightest mistake could cause us to spin. However, I believe that with this comeback, we saved the day,” said Camirand after Monday’s race.
On Wednesday, however, the driver of the GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro saw his consecutive top-five streak come to an end. Starting in 15th place, he was unable to gain many positions in the field, then had to make a pit stop after the halfway point in the race due to a puncture. He finally reached the finish in 13th place.
For his part, David Hébert, titular driver of the DIRT Modified ONE team, was making his debut in NASCAR Pinty’s for this doubleheader at Ohsweken, at the wheel of the GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°01 Camaro.
Hébert showed his ease on this surface from his first laps on Monday, recording fast times in practice. The rest of the evening was more difficult, however, as a puncture in qualifying forced him to start from the back of the pack. He then spun but managed to reach the finish in 13th place in Monday’s race.
On Wednesday, Hébert once again showed that his n°01 car was fast, posting the third-fastest time in practice. Starting from sixth place in the final, he defended himself well throughout the 100-lap race and reached the finish in seventh place, achieving his first top-10 finish in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series.
“We didn’t really have any expectations coming here to Ohsweken. It’s been a learning week for our team, and we’re very pleased to finish with a top-10 in the NASCAR Pinty’s series. That’s what we were aiming for, and it’s safe to say mission accomplished!” concludes Hébert.
Paillé Course//Racing will be back in action next weekend with Marc-Antoine Camirand and Andrew Ranger, as the NASCAR Pinty’s Series heads to the Circuit ICAR de Mirabel on Saturday August 26 for the Evirum 125.
